Member Survey: Your Health May Depend On It!
Your AASBCR board of directors, joined by a nationwide coalition of AT&T and predecessor companies’ retirees, created the 2008 Healthcare Enrollment survey. AASBCR’s Tom Cotton, Vice President, AT&T Relations is heading-up this project for the AT&T retiree coalition. The survey provides you and your family an opportunity to tell AT&T and its vendors how you feel about healthcare enrollment issues important to you. You can reach Tom Cotton for questions at vpcomprel@aasbcr.org or via phone at (312) 962-2770.
The survey likely will take about 20 minutes to complete, but it may be one of the most important 20 minutes of the year. Please return your survey via FAX to (312) 962-2770 or via U.S. mail to AASBCR, P.O. Box 7477, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089, within the next ten days. It is critical that there is sufficient time to compile and analyze results and your comments prior to the mid-April meeting with AT&T.
Creating the survey for a nationwide retiree audience took a significant effort to ensure your voices, both complementary and critical, are heard. We will share the results, once we have compiled them, with you and AT&T executives. Those results will include no names, but be based upon percentages calculated from your responses and the numbers of members who participate.
We intend to conduct a similar survey on an annual basis to help AT&T and your board members know what’s working and what’s not. One of the areas we want to focus on next year is who pays what and how much for your health care.
To do that accurately, we are asking that members keep detailed records of ALL healthcare expenses between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008. That includes your deductible medical expense including prescriptions and over-the-counter non-prescription medications, out-of-pocket medical expenses, amounts billed, any discounts or not covered expense, amounts approved, deductible amounts, co-pay amounts and the amount your health plan pays. Please also save expenses and co-pays for dental and vision expenses.
While this may seem overwhelming, most of the information mentioned above is available on periodic “Explanation of Benefits” forms you receive from United Healthcare and Medicare records where applicable. Meanwhile, your AASBCR board members wish you well in the coming year. We also encourage you to tell non-member retirees you know to join AASBCR. There really is strength in numbers. The member survey is living proof!
